About

Koob Sassen Enterprises (KSE), *1991 Berlin, 2010 London

Produces images and objects that seem to arrive too late: provisional, deliberately inauthentic, oddly familiar. KSE is both author and collection. Works by R.H. Quaytman, Bernadette Corporation, Michael E. Smith, Richard Sides, Franz Erhard Walther and Amelie von Wulffen sit alongside derivatives, facsimiles and makeshift stand-ins for Steven Parrino, Donald Judd and Cady Noland.

The work follows the ideological pressure points of authenticity, private ownership and participation, particularly where they are strained by scarcity, speculation and assetization. Rather than standing apart, KSE inhabits the cracks that open when substitution becomes a necessity. You can't quite tell whether you're watching someone get back on their feet or collapse.
